The Perry Parsons Big Band

"The Perry Parsons Big Band" (PPBB) came into being in 2002, to the surprise of their Director, Perry Parsons, himself!

They originally got together as members of the Vyners Swing Band or VSB (see below) based at Vyners School in Ickenham, Middlesex at which Perry was a history teacher. Being based on secondary school students, members inevitably left school to commence work or undertake courses of Further or Higher Education, but such was the attraction of the VSB, older members couldn't stay away for long and returned to play with the band whenever possible. As a result, a breakaway band of older members - affectionately referred to as the "Old Swingers" - was formed in 1997, playing more challenging arrangements in a wide range of styles. They have played at numerous gigs at home and abroad including fetes, festivals, dinner-dances, weddings, County Shows, charity concerts and Senior Citizens' Clubs and Homes, as well as several European tours. This splinter group thrived with an undying passion for playing and, in 2000, renamed themselves the "Red Hot Swinging Mullets" purely for a tour of the Rhine/Moselle, Germany. This name stuck for the next year and a half until they decided to launch themselves under their new name, The Perry Parsons Big Band.

The Perry Parsons Big Band is a collection of talented musicians with a passion for jazz and a love for playing great music. The band plays a catalogue of popular hits from early swing to easy listening and modern big band, spanning the 1920s to the modern day. It can be tailored from a small group to a full big band according to requirements and can cater for background music, centrepiece entertainment or dance events - proving great entertainment for any occasion.
